Let’s Play America was founded in July 2014 by Pat Rumbaugh and Daniel Nakamura to encourage people of all ages to give themselves time to play daily.  Read more about Pat and Daniel.

March 2009 Pat Rumbaugh founded a play committee in Takoma Park, Maryland called TakomaPlays. Pat heard that KaBOOM! A nonprofit was naming cities A Playful City USA. Pat suggest we apply, which meant holding a Play Day. Pat shared the date, time & place for a Play Day. The committee unanimously voted yes and Takoma Park received this award for nine straight years till the program ended.

With TakomaPlays! success, Pat and Daniel decided to co-found Let’s Play America to bring this vision to communities throughout Maryland and the rest of the country.
